What is net neutrality?

The idea that companies who provide connections to the internet(e.g. CenturyLink) can not favor or discriminate against particular internet searches, services, or websites no matter the source of it or the content. All ISPs need to enable all content and applications existing on the internet. Network Neutrality is a principle that all Internet traffic should be treated equally, with no discrimination (just as telephone companies are not permitted to tell consumers who they can call or what they can say). It prevents Internet providers from blocking, speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination. The free and open Internet brings with it the revolutionary possibility that any Internet site could have the reach of a TV or radio station. [1][2]What is net neutrality?
