What do IQ tests measure?

IQ may have nothing to do with intelligence but still find you a better job because employers will believe you are intelligent if you have high IQ. With better job you can earn more money and live healthier. Will you be more intelligent because of all this - I cannot say. Some intelligent people opt to work on things they are passionate about and earn less, and by doing that be happier then people working for others and making more money. Determining a cause and effect is a tricky business. Intelligence takes many forms: abstract thinking, problem solving, social intelligence, emotional intelligence, creativity... IQ tests may measure only certain narrow aspects of intelligence. Finding a good job depends on many more factors than those measured by IQ.

One may argue that more intelligent people care less about money. Or that ignorance is bless, and therefore happiness - and intelligent people presumably are not ignorant.
What is intelligence?
IQ tests measure intelligence. Higher intelligence helps us solve problems faster and with less effort. With higher IQ we can find better jobs, earn more money, be happier, and live healthier.

I think that our problem solving skills improve by practicing solving problems. In other words, part of intelligence dealing with these problems does improve.

Similarly, if we do not challenge our mind with new problems regularly, our intelligence will start weakening. It is just like with muscles - they develop when we exercise, they loosen up when we don't. IQ tests try to measure some forms of problem solving skills, memory, abstract thinking, etc.

IQ tests are in reality a very narrow minded attempt to quantify something as complex and elusive as human intelligence, and to give it a single number - Intelligence Quotient.

Like with any other tasks and problems we encounter, by practicing we can improve our results on IQ tests as well. Does our intelligence improve if we improve our scores on these tests? If not, do tests measure intelligence?[1][2]What do IQ tests measure?
Can money buy happiness?
