Why do people lie?

Why do people lie? I wouldn't exactly say everyone has to be honest for the world to run I think a better idea is that there needs to be a balance. I wouldn't say I lie a lot because I'm genuinely not someone who enjoys lying, but there are some people who do enjoy it and that's how they have always lived. In the end people will do what they want, whether that be lying or being brutally honest. exactly! people need to be mostly honest for the world to run. my philosophy is to be as honest as possible only telling white lies when absolutely needed. you are too honest BS GUY. be nice!~ ^^this is def BS self preservation, avoiding punishment, conformity, out of ignorance... Both true and untrue, everyone lies, even if they don't mean it. And everyone eventually tells the truth. Some lie more than others, and vice versa.I agree with that, however if people would just not care what others thought of them, then it would be easier to tell the truth and just be yourself. Rejection happens, and you should expect it. Getting hurt, happens no matter what you do, a lie only covers it up, but it always finds a way to hurt. Criticism is necessary if you ever want to get somewhere, without you'll sit there wondering what needs improvement, because to you the idea already seemed perfect.Until they figure out none of it was true. Then what? Everyone who liked you doesn't trust a thing you say, and everything you did is a lie to them. Honesty is important for the simple fact that if everyone lied, then we would get nowhere, and possibly still be like cavemen because no one honestly came up with the idea of a wheel, or simply even if they did, no one believed them anyway.People lie because they want to confuse other people. They themselves, however, are also confused. Telling the truth is often difficult, because arriving at the truth is sometimes impossible. So, people lie because it is convenient. Being real and genuine is easier said than done, for it places us in a vulnerable position in relation to others. It exposes us to the dreader possibility of being criticized, rejected, and hurt. These affronts to our sensitive soul may send us scurrying back into a cell of bitter pain and isolation, where we feel worthless, inadequate, and inferior.
We then feel unsafe to show our authentic self. [1] All that is communicated when people lie is what their imagination is thinking. I think it is a waste of time and effort. Beccause without lying we would all just be sitting round crying & cutting ourselves? Why not, it is fun. You don't have to live exciting life, you can simply invent it and be 'cool'. People will like you. You'll have more girls. You'll get better jobs. Not all people lie. Some do, some don't. They are afraid of being judged? They are lazy to explain the "whole truth", so opt for a simpler solution of telling a lie? For fun? To impress?
