At this rate mankind will be part machine in a distant future anywho so dreaming is pointless.
Mankind should not play god and mess with things they don't understand.
We will not be alive long enough to even begin. At this rate I'd say the doom of mankind is in the next 3 years due to what is happening on earth and in society across the world. It is advanced technology that changes environment much more than pure number of humans breading and consuming resources. So one big device might be more effective than billion people. Men have made great discoveries that would possibly make Mars' atmosphere breathable at some point. If not outside, at least indoors, and they will find a way to make it renewable. The problem is that after a life in mars be stablished, for some reason men would find a way to screw things up again and then they will be looking for another planet that satisfies their predation for natural resources. Man made global warming requires actions of billions of humans living on Earth and highly developed industry. No such thing can happen on Mars. For that many people to live on Mars, its atmosphere needs to resemble Earth's. However, how can it resemble Earth if it doesn't have billions of people to change its environment with the process analogous to global warming. If you think it is impossible, think about anthropogenic global warming happening on earth. It is possible that there is currently no life on Mars, not even micro-organisms. However, we are already thinking about what needs to be done for terraforming Mars. Terraformation is an idea based on the assumption that a man can transform an environment and climate of a whole planet, specifically, so that it resembles the earth (terra). Major change that would need to be done to Mars is an 'upgrade' of its atmosphere. Impossible? Life on Mars.
Global warming issue is confusing! Today human factor seems to be considerable, but people have enjoyed wormer times in the past. Is global warming really such a grave danger?
