Has the use of standardized tests improved education in America?

However, since we are talking about USA, school scores on tests determine the amount of budget being allotted to states, counties, etc. Therefore it affects the way teachers are encouraged to teach, and most often it is not the best way. Use of standardized testing has not improved education in America. Having tests to compare knowledge and performance levels between schools is not necessarily a bad thing. It is the curriculum and methodology of teaching which can make it bad if scoring high on tests is the primary goal. Ifteaching fundamental understanding of the topics and high scores on tests are simply a consequence than standardized tests are useful. many of wealthiest and most successful people are the least expensively educated. The best test takers get into the best schools and perpetuate the problem. According to research on education, using tests to structure schooling is a mistake. Students lose their innate inquisitiveness and imagination, and become insecure and amoral in the pursuit of high scores. [1]Has the use of standardized tests improved education in America?
