Compulsory voting pros and cons.

Should ignorant people be allowed to vote?
Neither does voluntary voting guarantee that a person will make an informed decision. Compulsory voting may at least encourage voters to research the candidates' political positions more thoroughly.

High turnout guarantees that no extreme party can win with low percent of votes - if people are unhappy with candidates they simply vote blank. This also assures that the mandate and legitimacy politicians get is more accurate - they cannot say 'people voted for me' but only 'x% voted for me'. While encouraging participation in politics is a good thing, mandating voting does not guarantee that a person will make an informed decision. Also, if one must vote, then there should be an option 'None of the above candidates' on the voting sheet. One must not be forced to vote for less evil among evils. Compulsory voting pros and cons.
