Does society have the right to ban consensual sex between adult siblings or cousins?

Hmm, the claim that no research has proved problems with incestuous births is either a very informed one, or very ignorant. Let me check on Google Scholar, I'll do the search for 'incest birth defect'... It turns out above claim was not informed at all. [1] No, society has no right to interefere in such matters. Claims that such unions increase the risk of birth defects is fallacious. No research has yet uncovered a significant link between incestual pregnancies and birth defects. Incest can result in pregnancy. Children from inbreeding are more likely to show physical and health defects, including genetic disorders. People should not have a right to purposefully make children who may have serious health defects. For the same reason some countries have compulsory sterilization of mentally retarded people. Society has the right to do this. Does society have the right to ban consensual sex between adult siblings or cousins?
