Yelling at kids.

I read an article and debate about how this works. Scientists tested kids to see if this method worked, and it did not. There were two stages. Stage 1: The kids are too young, and don’t understand the correlation from yelling to bad behavior. Steals candy->candy tastes good->mommy yells at me.
Stage 2: The kids are old enough to understand parenting, and feel betrayed that the parents could use any method but they prefer to yell. The only benefit to this is the thrill rush the adults get. Sad.

I hate it when my dad yells at me. He does it so often, always exploding over tiny things. Sometimes over nothing at all. I hate him. He hates me. There is always another way to achieve the desired outcome. Yelling is one of easiest options that requires no thought, creativity, or patience. It is not a skill a parent should be proud of possessing. They are smaller and weaker and can't confront us, so why not? :-) It certainly motivates them, but not towards achievement of our goals. It motivates them to grow up so that they could yell back at you. Does screaming at kids motivate them? Yelling at kids.
