A healthy mind in a healthy body.

a healthy mind and a healthy body are intertwined. the mind directs the body. if the mind is sick so will the body be. if the body is sick the mind will not be able to direct it as well. —jesus christ Sure, if you have a broken finger and you don't fix it, it will bother you, permanently. You will focus your attention/mind on your finger way too often. You will think about how it is annoying, how it hurts, how other people don't have this problem... All these thoughts will accumulate negative feelings in you. These negative feelings will not have a good effect on your psychology and your relation to others. They can only have negative effect. In the long run your mind will not be as healthy. Considering that the quote dates back to the age where there was no definition of mental health, I think that 'healthy mind' refers to a socially adapted and well intentioned person. What does it mean 'healthy mind'? Does it mean mentally healthy? Or does it mean a personally well developed, strong, moral, fulfilled person. Does this mean that if I have a broken finger I don't have healthy mind? Or if I have mild allergy or asthma, I cannot be mentally healthy? Without a physical health one cannot have a healthy mind. A healthy mind in a healthy body.
