Women are being stoned to death and raped in third world countries. In America we at least try to give everyone an equal opportunity in their career endeavors. It isn't oppression, when there a strong differences between genders that effect life goals. There is still the saying "women and children" first when in emergency situations. That highlights a stark difference in value between men and women. Women are still paid less than men even though people pretend everything is more equal now. If you look at any super hero movies, chances are you wont find any women heroes that aren't overly sexualized. Females are still being oppressed.
