ridiculous "terms of use"

Terms are being changed for every site all the time. They do it in a sneaky bastard way to hope you just check the box without reading it. Then they sell more of your important data to marketers. There's an old saying. You're being ridden hard like a dirty saddle and put away wet.[1]Surprisingly, apart from the inconvenience of having to check the date of last update of the "terms of use" at every visit, it appears that Gmail may have the extreme rarity of a relatively reasonably worded "terms of use" agreement. A waiver should allow people to use sites at their own risk including possibility a company's liability is limited, whether they read "terms of use" or not. They shouldn't be left to lie or miss out on the potential benefits of the technology. Does anyone know all laws? How can one agree not to violate any law? Incredibly, at least one "terms of use" type "agreement" requires people to not violate any law intentionally or unintentionally! How can you agree not to violate any law in the world unintentionally? Unfortunately, many websites etc, run by what appears to be mutual pretence by both company and user. This apparently discriminates against honest folks, who do not like to click to agree on such demands. I hope (given this topic) it is acceptable that I only skim-read (not fully) the "terms of use" of this site. Has anyone noticed that much of the internet imposes often very long, impossibly or unfairly (and unnecessarily) onerous demands on people? How many people on facebook, linkedin, you-tube, Yahoo! etc. etc. actually read all the terms and conditions? How can they agree that the terms and conditions can be changed at anytime, unless they re-read them every time?ridiculous "terms of use"
